As a Commis Chef, you will assist the kitchen team by performing basic cooking tasks, maintaining high hygiene standards, and supporting the brigade in preparing high-quality dishes. This role is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow within a high-pressure, luxury kitchen environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients and follow recipes to ensure consistent food quality and plating standards.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain impeccable workstation cleanliness and comply with all food safety, handling, and storage best practices.
- Team Support: Support senior chefs with mise en place, stock rotation, and adapting to various kitchen sections like pastry, grill, or the cold kitchen.
- Growth: Actively participate in training sessions, apply feedback to improve performance, and build confidence in various cooking techniques.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 2 years of experience in a chef or junior chef position.
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Technical knowledge in Food & Beverage and Hospitality.
- You must be flexible, a dedicated team player, and highly coachable.
