The Assistant Lodge Manager is the operational right hand to the Lodge Manager and a key custodian of the Silvan Safari experience. This role blends exceptional guest hosting with disciplined operational execution, ensuring every detail of the guest journey is delivered with consistency, warmth, and precision. You will lead from the front - present, engaged, and deeply involved in both guest interaction and operational delivery. In the absence of the Lodge Manager, you will assume full responsibility for operations, team leadership, and guest experience, ensuring continuity and team confidence.
What You’ll Do:
- Guest Experience & Hosting: Support the full guest journey, actively hosting arrivals, departures, and meals while building meaningful relationships and upholding Relais & Châteaux standards.
- Lodge Operations & Oversight: Coordinate daily operations across all departments, conducting regular quality checks and ensuring operational SOPs are consistently followed.
- Team Leadership & Development: Support the leadership and performance management of a team of 50+ staff, overseeing daily rosters and driving ongoing on-the-floor training.
- Administrative Duties & Reporting: Assume full operational leadership in the absence of the Lodge Manager, acting as the senior decision-maker and managing incidents or emergencies.
- Operational Readiness: Manage stock levels, logistics, and interdepartmental communication while supporting financial discipline and cost control.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 2 years of experience in a luxury lodge or high-end hospitality environment.
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- a Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management would be advantageous
- Specialised knowledge in hospitality management or office administration.
- You must be naturally warm, guest-oriented, and calm under pressure.
- Strong skills in people management, time management, and budget awareness.
